What is Account Lockout Threshold?
Setting a specific value to limit the number of log in attempts in a computer is known as Account Lockout Threshold.
Why you need account lockout threshold?
If the account lockout threshold is not set in a computer, there is a possibility for unauthorized people to access the computer by trying different passwords with n number of attempts.
Setting Account Lockout Threshold in Windows 8
Step #1 - Open Run dialog box or Press Windows + R and then type "gpedit.msc".
Step #2 - Allow the application to open and modify by clicking yes in the User Account Panel window.
Step #3 - Browse Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Security Settings/Account Policies/ Account Lockout Policy and open Account Lockout Threshold.
Step #4 - In the Local Security Settings tab; specify the number of attempts you want to allow during logging in.
Step #5 - Click 'Ok' and close. Now you've successfully set an Account Lockout Threshold.
